What is in my Jewelry?
Sterling Silver - made of 92.5% silver. Sterling Silver will "patina" over time, this is, its color will take on an antiqued look. Sterling tarnishes when exposed to air, you can slow this process by storing pieces in a plastic bag or air tight container. Clean with a chemically treated sterling silver cleaning cloth.
Gold Filled - made by combining a layer or layers of gold alloy to base metal (usually brass) then rolling or drawing the metal to the desired thickness and shape. It has a long life and can be worn by most people.
Vermeil - made of sterling silver, heavily electroplated with 18kt or 22kt yellow gold.
Glass Beads - a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors, shapes, finishes, and types of glass when it comes to glass beads. Covering the artistic spectrum from elegant to playful, glass beads are an unbeatable combinations of beauty and value.
Swarovski Crystals - glass that contains a material which causes the glass to refract light. Swarovski Crystals have sharply defined edges that, combined with their content the defined edges adds to their sparkle. Swarovski Crystals occupy the majority of the worlds market for Crystal beads and are regarded as the highest quality machine cut and polished crystal beads in the world.
Lamp Work Beads - handmade glass beads. These special beads are crafted using a centuries-old process called lampworking. Rods of colorful glass are melted in a special torch and the molten glass is then wound around a steel rod, forming a basic bead.
Celestial Crystals - Hand-faceted and hand-polished in Orient. Unique crystal glass which makes each bead extremely reflective, creating a cascade of sparkling colors.
Czech Fire Polished Beads - machine-faceted, then polished by glazing inside a hot oven. This gives them their beautiful glistening colors and a soft look.
Pearls - Technically if freshwater pearls were the largest, roundest most lustrous pearls in the world, they could be worth as much as saltwater. Freshwater pearls can be round or irregular in their shapes and exhibit unusual colors. I use mostly Fresh Water Pearls. They have the best and most long lasting color.
Seed Beads - uniformly shaped, spheroidal beads ranging in size from under a millimeter to several millimeters. "Seed bead" is a generic term for any small bead.
